Portable Retardant Mixing Systems
A Portable Retardant Mixing System is used to supply mixed retardant to helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft. The system consists of a 350 model eductor mixer, mix and transfer pumps, water and retardant tanks, water meter, loading manifold, air supply, hose and fittings, retardant test
equipment, forklift, and a helicopter dip tank. This system is capable of mixing all gum thickened Phos-Chek retardant products. If fixed tank helicopters are used, Phos-Chek 259F is required. Mobile retardant systems are capable of mixing 21,000 gallons per hour and can meet demands of up to 30,000 gallons per hour.
The road access to the proposed portable operation site must be capable of handling a semi-truck and trailer, which is used to supply either bulk or Phos-Bin containers depending on conditions. Locating
the system at the point of use should be made jointly with ordering agency and one of the Phos-Chek Fire Safety Group Technical Service Representatives. Critical factors in site selection are overall safety and the ability to provide an adequate water supply. If water supply is a problem, Phos-Chek will also provide water trucks to shuttle water to meet demands.
The Phos-Chek Fire Safety Group will provide three Technical Service Representatives to operate the system and to provide technical service.
